During the study session, your child will watch a series of fun videos or play with you while they wear a neuroimaging hat. We use innovative eye-tracking and brain-imaging technology to measure your infant's visual and neurological perception to the events that take place around them. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy, or FNIRS, is a cutting edge neuroimaging technology that allows us to use light sensors to monitor brain activity in a safe and noninvasive way.
Join us for one of our 45-minute video calls, where caregivers and infants together complete brief tasks from their home while an experimenter from the lab observes the actions being carried out.
The Infant Cognition Lab is run by doctoral students and overseen by Florida Atlantic Professor and Associate Provost of Academic Personnel, Dr. Teresa Wilcox. For the past 30 years, Dr. Wilcox has dedicated her career to investigating the knowledge that infants possess very early in development, the knowledge that infants acquire more gradually, and the kinds of experiences that support early knowledge acquisition.
