Who can participate?

Bilingual children who are 22 months and are learning English and Spanish are invited to participate in Florida Atlantic University's Study of Early Language Development on Monolingual and Bilingual Toddlers.

What do I have to do?

A parent or other caregiver provides background information (in English or Spanish) about the child's development and language use.

What will my child have to do?

The child plays a language game – repeating words and sounds.

How long will it take?

The games your child will play will take 30 minutes; the parent interview takes about 1 hour.  We also ask you to provide some information on questionnaires.  We will divide this over more than one session so that it stays fun for your child.  We will call you again in 3 months for a second visit.

What will my child and I get for participating?

We are able to give you a $25 gift card now and again at the 3 month follow-up visit.  Your child will get a small toy and a t-shirt.

Where do we go?

We will come to your home or you can come to our playroom on the Davie campus of Florida Atlantic University – whichever is easier for you.

To find out more, or to schedule a visit, please contact us at (954) 236-1142 or e-mail us at: langdevlab@fau.edu.
