General Research Interests
Santo Tarantino recently completed a research project that involved a replication and extension of a study on archetypal memory using a paired associate learning procedure from cognitive psychology. His involvement in Jungian psychology (in addition to being an academician he is also a clinical psychologist and a Jungian psychoanalyst) connects him to developments in evolutionary psychology and the conceptualizations of complex dynamical systems. He sees many possibilities for the amplification of Jungian concepts from these two perspectives. In addition to the research mentioned above, he has finished a manuscript for a short book on romantic love, suffering, and transformation from a Jungian perspective. The relationship between psychopathology and religious experience is a new research interest for which he is now gearing-up.
